A Work in Progress

Remember this bed?

It is now this bed...
Yep, Mia has a new bedroom and a brand new bed! Even though it took a few weeks, the bed project was pretty simple. I just sanded the bed down a little bit with medium grit sand paper to the the surface roughed up. Then my fabulous husband got to work priming and painting.

Our paint guy (Sherwin Williams, love them!) suggested we use a glossy oil paint. I chose a slightly off white color. A coat of primer, two coats of paint and viola!

Because of the scroll and pineapple details on this bed, we decided to invest in a paint sprayer. And we are so glad we did. The painting was a breeze and the finish is super smooth. And, given how easy this was, I am sure this won't be the only refinishing project we do.

We let it cure for about a week to ensure a nice hard, durable surface.

With the bed done, and the room freshly painted, we were finally able to move Mia into her big girl room this weekend. And let me just say, the girl L-O-V-E-S it!

The room is still a work in progress. I am waiting on the bedding that is on back order at Pottery Barn and I am still working on the wall decor. There is going to be a reading nook in the corner and a side table added. Also, that ugly chest at the foot of her bed is going to a new home in the basement. That is my hope check with all my baby things but it just takes up too much space in this room.

For now, our baby girl is officially no longer a crib dwelling baby. She is a big girl with a brand new big girl room to match.

And her favorite part is her new big girl bed...
I think it is mine too...
So stay tuned to the final reveal of Mia's room. It is going to be fabulous!
