Thoughts From a Rocking Chair

Every evening around 9pm, I sit in the glider feeding my little munchkin in a darkened room, with the sounds of classical music and the soft hum of a fan in the background. This is our nightly routine that I love for she falls peacefully asleep for the night. The whole process takes about 45 minutes. 20 for feeding and burping, and 20 for holding her upright to allow all that delicious formula to settle in her sensitive tummy.

It is during this quiet time that I am left to my own thoughts. It is mostly reflective thinking that turns into blog ideas. Ideas to snazz it up a bit since I have become bored with my own blog. So far I have written and re-written at least 4 blog entries in my head.

Who knows if they will make it to the this blog. Blogs take a lot of time. Time to write, find pictures, post pictures, come up with a creative title (or not), editing...etc.

Alas, motherhood is taking its toll on my blogging time. Especially now that little Mia doesn't sleep as much. Even now, I am going back and forth between typing and keeping her occupied. It is hard enough just to get the meager photos and video clips of Mia that family and friends look forward to each week.

So here I am blogging about blogging ideas. hmmmm...
Another one bites the dust. In the meantime, I will just keep thinking.
Gotta go. Princess Mia calls....

A Capitol Weekend

Saturday, we decided to take a trip to Jefferson City to see the state capitol. Gabe and I are big history buffs so we get excited about this kind of thing. Missouri has some great and interesting history. This was also a trial run for how well Mia would do on the long drive to Denver. I must say we did quite well on the 2.5 hour drive.

Jefferson City is a really neat town. Reminds me a bit of a college town. We had lunch with some friends at a great pizza joint across the street from the capitol building. Because of Mia's feeding schedule, we didn't get to see much other than the capitol building. But we were able to squeeze in a tour of the place while she slept. Way cool!

A little of this and that

This is what is happening right now. I love nap time at the Schnelle house...

So, I am sitting here surfing the net while the munchkin sleeps (I wonder how long I have?), doing my normal surfing routine. Email, facebook, blogs, perusing the local school's job listings, etc...., and my thoughts turn to the new Star Trek movie. Thanks to Gabe's brother Michael and his family, we were able to see it last weekend. Totally AWESOME movie. I am not a Trekkie by any stretch of the imagination, but I LOVED this movie. However, one thing is bugging me and I thought I would put it out there...

Winona Ryder??? Really? As Spock's mother??? Are you kidding me?!?!?! Could they not find anyone better to play this part? Potential deal breaker right there. Getting possibly the world's worst actress to play a part of a 50ish year old wife of a Vulcan diplomat. Not convincing. Come on!!

Ok, I digress...

Why I Love Spring

It's the time of year that we get to shave Angel. Yes, she is a gorgeous Collie, but man oh man that hair can get overwhelming to take care of. By the time spring starts to peek out of the winter clouds, I start to have meltdowns over this poor girl's hair and my inability to keep up with it. Not to mention tick season makes it all much, much worse. As soon as its warm enough, we head off to the groomer. Much to Gabe's dismay.
